The role-holder will support the work of the Hong Kong History Centre and the development of the Hong Kong Historical Archives by creating detailed catalogues for complex mixed media archives related to the history of Hong Kong, some of which may be written in Chinese. They will work closely with the Digital Archive Assistant to ensure digital preservation of the born digital and digitised archives, and support the wider team to make the archives available for research, education, and other engagement activities. Based in Special Collections (Library Services), the role holder will work with the Special Collections team in addition to the Hong Kong History Centre, which facilitates the study of the history of Hong Kong and its peoples. They will undertake a range of professional responsibilities, such as ensuring ethical standards are followed throughout the whole process, from acquisition to cataloguing. Additionally, they will supervise the Digital Archive Assistant, liaise with rights holders, and identify material for digital preservation. Applicants should have a strong interest in the history of Hong Kong and be passionate about working with the archives. This position is open-ended with fixed funding until 31/08/2027 and the advert will close at 23:59 GMT on Wednesday 10th May 2023.
