OVERVIEW The International Admissions Counselor at the University of Tampa plays a central role in recruiting, advising, and supporting international undergraduate and graduate students throughout the admissions process. Based in Tampa, Florida, this position sits within the Office of Admissions and works closely with international programs and campus partners. The role combines student-facing advising, operational admissions work, and international outreach, with a meaningful amount of travel. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Recruit international undergraduate and graduate students – Advise international students and prospective applicants on admissions processes – Process applications for international applicants – Coordinate with international programs – Plan and support admissions-related events – Conduct outreach at international recruitment fairs – Provide counseling for international applicants and enrolled students – Participate in domestic and international travel for recruitment purposes REQUIREMENTS – Knowledge of SEVIS – Knowledge of F-1 visa regulations – Knowledge of J-1 visa regulations – Understanding of international education systems – Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25% of the time WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International Admissions Counselors are often the first point of contact between an institution and students from around the world. This role helps ensure that international students receive accurate guidance, timely support, and a welcoming introduction to U.S. higher education. By supporting recruitment and admissions efforts, the position contributes directly to campus internationalization and the cultural and academic diversity of the university community.
