OVERVIEW The Executive Director of the Center for International Studies at Kean University is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and coordinating the institution’s global engagement strategy. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Global Initiatives, this position provides university-wide leadership across international programs serving both inbound and outbound students. The role integrates strategic vision with operational oversight to ensure that international initiatives align with institutional priorities and regulatory requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide strategic vision, leadership, and university-wide coordination of global initiatives and programs encompassing inbound and outbound students. – Manage education abroad and exchange programs. – Oversee services and support for international students and scholars. – Lead the development of international partnerships. – Ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Department of State regulations. – Serve as the university’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). REQUIREMENTS WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role is central to ensuring that international education activities are cohesive, compliant, and strategically aligned across the university. By coordinating education abroad, international student services, and global partnerships under a unified vision, the Executive Director helps create meaningful global learning experiences while safeguarding institutional compliance.
