OVERVIEW The Graduate Assistant in the Office of International Student Success at Hobart and William Smith Colleges is a part-time professional role designed for a graduate student pursuing advanced preparation in higher education leadership. Based in Geneva, New York, this position combines academic study with practical experience supporting F-1 and J-1 international students. The role emphasizes student support, compliance exposure, and community engagement within an international education context. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Support F-1 and J-1 international students through day-to-day programming and services – Provide advising support to international students in collaboration with office staff – Assist with planning and delivering international student orientation activities – Help organize and facilitate workshops related to international student success – Contribute to community-building initiatives for international students – Support office communications related to programs and services – Maintain records and assist with recordkeeping processes – Gain hands-on experience with federal regulations affecting international students REQUIREMENTS – Enrollment as a full-time student in the Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership program WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International students face complex academic, cultural, and regulatory environments, and effective institutional support is essential to their success and well-being.
