OVERVIEW Indiana University Bloomington is hiring a Senior Scholar Advisor (International Services Advisor) within the Office of International Services. This role supports international faculty, staff, visitors, and university hiring units by providing guidance on immigration processes, visa options, and regulatory compliance. The position also contributes to educational programming and supports institutional international services for scholars and international students. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Advises IU hiring units on visa options for international faculty, staff, and visitors – Provides guidance related to B1/B2, H-1B, J-1, TN, E-3, and O-1 visa statuses – Interprets immigration laws and regulations – Supports compliance reporting activities – Develops educational programming for international students and scholars – Serves as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the U.S. Department of State Exchange Visitor Program REQUIREMENTS – Experience advising on visa options for international faculty, staff, and visitors – Knowledge of B1/B2, H-1B, J-1, TN, E-3, and O-1 statuses – Ability to interpret immigration laws and regulations – Ability to support compliance reporting processes – Ability to develop educational programming for international students and scholars – Capacity to serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer within the Exchange Visitor Program WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International services professionals play a critical role in helping universities maintain compliance while supporting a globally connected academic community.
