OVERVIEW The Director of International Affairs and International Programs at Texas Southern University leads the institution’s international engagement strategy and oversees global education initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and managing international partnerships, study abroad opportunities, and services that support international students and scholars. Based in Houston, Texas, the position also directs the operations of the Office of International Affairs and serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead, develop, and manage the university’s global engagement initiatives – Provide strategic direction for international partnerships – Oversee study abroad programs and global education initiatives – Manage international student and scholar services – Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Oversee operations of the Office of International Affairs – Supervise international recruitment and admissions processes – Ensure compliance with SEVIS guidelines – Oversee issuance of I-20 documents – Manage F-1 visa-related processes REQUIREMENTS – Experience or expertise related to international affairs and international programs – Ability to provide strategic direction for global engagement initiatives – Knowledge of international partnerships and study abroad programming – Familiarity with international student and scholar services – Ability to serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Knowledge of SEVIS guidelines and compliance procedures – Experience overseeing I-20 issuance and F-1 visa processes – Ability to manage operations within an Office of International Affairs – Experience with international recruitment and admissions operations WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International education offices play a central role in supporting institutional global engagement and cross-cultural learning opportunities.
