OVERVIEW Eastern University is seeking an Associate Director of Student Belonging to help cultivate an inclusive learning environment for students across the campus community. This role focuses on supporting non-traditional students, affinity groups, and international students while helping foster a holistic sense of belonging within higher education. The position also contributes to multicultural initiatives and student support efforts designed to strengthen engagement and inclusion. The Associate Director works closely with students through mentoring, advising, and program support. The role combines student services, multicultural engagement, and international support responsibilities while participating in crisis response efforts and additional assigned duties. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Strategically cultivate an inclusive learning environment for students – Support and mentor non-traditional students – Advise and support affinity groups – Provide support for international students – Contribute to multicultural initiatives – Participate in international student services efforts – Serve in a crisis response rotation – Complete other assigned duties REQUIREMENTS – Master’s degree in Higher Education, Sociology, International Relations, or a related field – Two to four years of experience in multicultural affairs, international student services, or DEI programming WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Student belonging plays an important role in student engagement, persistence, and campus experience within higher education. Positions focused on multicultural support and international student services help students navigate academic and social environments while strengthening inclusive campus communities. This role supports students from varied backgrounds and experiences, including international students and non-traditional students. By advising affinity groups and contributing to multicultural initiatives, the position helps create opportunities for connection, support, and community engagement.
