OVERVIEW Purdue University Northwest is seeking an International Services Specialist within the Admissions & Recruitment Department. This position supports international students, exchange visitors, and employment-based visa holders through immigration and related services. The role combines student advising, compliance responsibilities, international admissions support, and coordination across campus departments to maintain effective international services. The position includes work with immigration documentation, SEVIS and Sunapsis record management, and guidance for student employment authorization processes. The specialist also contributes to orientation, pre-arrival communication, and ongoing support for the international student experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Coordinate immigration and related services for international students, exchange visitors, and employment-based visa holders – Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) – Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) – Manage SEVIS records – Manage Sunapsis records – Advise student populations on OPT and CPT processes – Ensure compliance with federal immigration regulations – Support international student orientation activities – Provide pre-arrival services for international students – Monitor health insurance compliance requirements – Support international admissions functions – Collaborate with campus departments on international student services and reporting REQUIREMENTS – Experience coordinating immigration and related services for international students, exchange visitors, and employment-based visa holders – Ability to manage SEVIS and Sunapsis records – Knowledge of OPT and CPT advising processes – Understanding of federal immigration compliance requirements – Ability to support international admissions and student services – Ability to collaborate with campus departments on reporting and services WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International education offices play an essential role in helping international students navigate admissions, immigration, compliance, and campus life.
