OVERVIEW Minnesota State University, Mankato is seeking a Senior International Student Advisor – MSUAASF Range C (AA26156). This role serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and supports international students through guidance related to federal F-1 immigration regulations, academic matters, and cultural adjustment. The position also works closely with academic departments and represents the university in communication with federal agencies connected to immigration compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) – Advise and educate international students and dependents on federal F-1 immigration regulations – Provide guidance to academic departments on matters related to federal immigration regulations – Represent the university to the Department of Homeland Security and Department of State – Help formulate institutional policies and procedures related to F-1 international students – Advise students on academic support and cultural adjustment – Assist with orientation programs for international students – Support international center programs and events REQUIREMENTS – Knowledge of federal F-1 immigration regulations – Ability to independently advise international students, dependents, and academic departments – Ability to educate students and departments on immigration regulations – Ability to represent the university with federal agencies related to immigration matters – Ability to support academic advising and cultural adjustment for international students WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International students rely on accurate immigration guidance and strong academic support to successfully navigate university life in the United States.
