OVERVIEW The Executive Director, Center for International Studies at Kean University is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing the institution’s global engagement strategy. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Global Initiatives, this position provides strategic vision, leadership, and coordination for international programs that support both inbound and outbound students. The role operates at a university-wide level and integrates academic, regulatory, and student support functions within international education. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide strategic vision and leadership for global initiatives and programs across the university – Coordinate university-wide international education efforts – Manage education abroad programs and international exchange initiatives – Oversee services for international students and scholars – Lead the development and management of international partnerships – Ensure institutional compliance with U.S. immigration and visa regulations – Serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Oversee processes related to F-1 and J-1 students and scholars REQUIREMENTS – Experience with F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations – Experience using SEVIS – Experience in international student advising – Ability to serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role plays a critical part in ensuring that international education initiatives are aligned with institutional priorities while remaining compliant with complex federal regulations. By overseeing both outbound and inbound mobility, the Executive Director helps expand global learning opportunities and supports the success and well-being of international students and scholars.
