OVERVIEW The Senior Director for Education Abroad serves within the Global Engagement division at the University of Texas at Austin. This leadership role provides executive-level direction for education abroad operations and supports the university’s international priorities through strategic planning, partnership development, and operational coordination. The position focuses on advancing global engagement across the institution by supporting international program growth, strengthening collaboration with university leadership, and guiding initiatives connected to global learning and international education. The role also contributes to leadership efforts related to health and safety policies in international settings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide executive-level leadership for Education Abroad – Oversee strategic planning and organizational development – Lead education abroad operations – Manage international partnerships – Support global learning initiatives – Coordinate operational activities related to education abroad – Advance institutional internationalization priorities – Collaborate on health and safety policies in international settings – Support international program growth – Supervise directors within Education Abroad – Work closely with senior university leadership on global engagement initiatives REQUIREMENTS – Executive-level leadership experience related to education abroad, global engagement, or international education – Experience overseeing strategic planning and organizational development – Ability to manage international partnerships and support international initiatives – Experience collaborating with senior leadership – Experience supporting operational coordination and program growth – Ability to contribute to health and safety policy collaboration in international settings WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Education abroad programs play a significant role in expanding student access to global learning opportunities and strengthening institutional international engagement.
