OVERVIEW Lone Star College is seeking a Part-Time Advisor II, Advising in Tomball, Texas. This position serves as a first point of contact for students and supports academic progress connected to degree completion. The role includes providing academic advice, assisting with degree planning, supporting transfer goals, and helping students navigate enrollment and program requirements. Advisors working with international students also support immigration compliance and collaborate with the Office of International Programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Serve as the first point of contact for students seeking academic support and guidance – Meet with students to advise and track academic progress related to degree completion – Provide academic advice and direction on degree planning – Guide students on program requirements, course selection, enrollment, and schedule building – Advise students regarding transfer to 4-year institutions – Coordinate transfer events for students – Support student success and retention efforts – Advise international students on immigration issues – Ensure compliance with immigration procedures and regulations – Provide admission advice and counsel to international students – Collaborate with the Office of International Programs REQUIREMENTS – Experience advising students on academic progress and degree completion – Ability to provide academic advice related to program requirements and course selection – Knowledge of transfer processes to 4-year institutions – Ability to support student success and retention initiatives – Ability to advise international students on immigration procedures and regulations – Ability to collaborate with institutional offices and programs WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Academic advising plays an important role in helping students make informed decisions about their education and long-term goals.
