OVERVIEW The Project Specialist (SC – International Students IEP) supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of an intensive esl program within the Community Education department at South Orange County Community College District. This fee-based program is designed for adult learners from underserved and immigrant community populations. The position works under the supervision of an appropriate manager or administrator and contributes to improving access to high-quality instruction and student support. The role also emphasizes student success through coordination with community organizations and support for learners navigating the program. Candidates with mandarin language knowledge may help mandarin-speaking students with accessing available services and understanding program processes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Support the planning of the intensive esl program – Assist with coordination of program activities within the Community Education department – Contribute to implementation of the fee-based esl program – Improve access to high-quality esl instruction for adult learners – Promote student success within the program – Foster partnerships with community-based organizations – Assist mandarin-speaking students with navigating the program – Support students in accessing available support services – Work under the supervision of an appropriate manager or administrator REQUIREMENTS – Working knowledge of mandarin – Ability to assist mandarin-speaking students – Ability to support adult learners from underserved and immigrant community populations – Ability to support planning, coordination, and implementation activities – Ability to work within a Community Education program environment WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This position supports educational access for adult learners seeking esl instruction and community-based educational opportunities.
