OVERVIEW The Office of Immigration Services at the University at Buffalo is seeking a Paralegal to provide immigration support for non-citizen employees and exchange visitors. This position supports university departments involved in hiring international employees and scholars while assisting with administration of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. The role combines case preparation, communications coordination, records management, and operational support within a higher education immigration environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide immigration support for the university’s non-citizen employees and exchange visitors – Support departments hiring non-citizen employees and scholars – Assist with administration of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program – Prepare employment-based petitions and applications for international employees – Serve as a communications liaison – Manage records and case files – Support legal and office functions REQUIREMENTS – Experience or ability to prepare employment-based petitions and applications – Ability to manage records and case files – Communication skills to serve as a liaison for employees, departments, and exchange participants – Ability to support legal and administrative office functions – Ability to work in an immigration services environment supporting non-citizen employees and scholars WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International education institutions rely on effective immigration support to help employees, scholars, and exchange visitors navigate complex applications and regulatory processes.
