OVERVIEW San Jose State University is seeking an Evaluation Specialist to support the College of Graduate Studies. Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations (GAPE), the role focuses on coordinating evaluations and advising for new and continuing graduate students. The position supports domestic and international students by ensuring compliance with university, CSU, and Title 5 admissions and degree requirements while also assisting with visa-related processes and student record evaluations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Coordinate and execute evaluation and advising activities for graduate students – Conduct graduate admissions evaluations and graduation assessments – Evaluate domestic and international credentials for admissions and degree requirements – Support new and continuing students enrolled in special partnership programs, SAGE, and SJSU Online – Process I-20 documentation for international students – Perform Designated School Official (DSO) duties related to SEVIS compliance – Advise students regarding admissions and graduation requirements – Coordinate with International Student Advising and other campus offices – Interpret university and csu policies related to admissions and graduate requirements – Ensure timely processing of student visa documentation REQUIREMENTS – Experience coordinating evaluations and advising activities for graduate students – Ability to evaluate domestic and international credentials – Knowledge of graduate admissions and graduation assessment processes – Understanding of student visa documentation procedures and SEVIS compliance – Ability to interpret university and csu policies – Experience advising students on admissions and graduate requirements – Ability to coordinate with multiple campus offices and programs WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role contributes directly to the success of graduate and international students by helping them navigate admissions, degree progress, and compliance requirements.
