OVERVIEW The Director of External Relations is a senior leadership position within the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society at Dartmouth College. This role focuses on building and sustaining external relationships that support the institute’s educational mission, research initiatives, and broader societal impact. The position works across industry, government, foundations, and other partnerships to strengthen collaboration opportunities connected to energy and society. The role also supports faculty engagement, research translation, entrepreneurship initiatives, and expanded opportunities for students through collaborative programs and student mobility initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead external relations efforts for the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society at dartmouth – Build and sustain relationships with industry, government, foundations, and other external partners – Develop strategic partnerships that advance the institute’s mission and societal impact – Support faculty research collaborations and interdisciplinary engagement – Expand experiential and career opportunities for students – Strengthen entrepreneurship and research translation pathways – Increase dartmouth visibility within the energy and society landscape – Identify and develop international academic partnerships – Support collaborative research initiatives with external organizations – Facilitate faculty exchange opportunities – Advance student mobility programs connected to international partnerships REQUIREMENTS – Senior leadership capability in external relations – Experience developing and sustaining partnerships with external stakeholders – Ability to support research collaborations and educational initiatives – Capacity to work with faculty, industry, government, and foundation partners – Ability to support international partnerships and collaborative programs – Experience advancing initiatives related to energy and society WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This position plays an important role in connecting academic research with external organizations that can expand impact and collaboration opportunities.
