OVERVIEW San Jose State University is seeking a Senior Director for Global Programs and Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) and Study Abroad and Away (SAA). This role supports international students, scholars, and study abroad participants through leadership in global engagement, compliance, and program development. The position also advances international opportunities and institutional global initiatives across the university. The Senior Director oversees services for more than 3,000 international students and scholars, visiting scholars, and students participating in abroad programs. The role includes responsibility for internationalization strategy, partnership agreements, and global learning opportunities while ensuring compliance with federal requirements connected to international services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) – Lead Study Abroad and Away (SAA) operations and services – Oversee services for more than 3,000 international students and scholars – Support study abroad students and visiting scholars – Lead internationalization strategy and global engagement initiatives – Manage exchange opportunities and partnership agreements – Oversee global learning opportunities and related services – Ensure SEVIS compliance and regulatory oversight – Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) – Serve as the Responsible Officer (RO) REQUIREMENTS – Experience providing strategic leadership for international programs and services – Ability to oversee operations related to international students and scholars – Knowledge of SEVIS compliance and regulatory responsibilities – Experience supporting study abroad and global engagement initiatives – Ability to manage partnership agreements and exchange opportunities – Capacity to oversee services for international and abroad programs WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This position plays a significant role in supporting international students and advancing global engagement within higher education.
