OVERVIEW MassBay Community College is hiring a Coordinator of New Student Experience within the SOAR-Orientation department. This role focuses on supporting student transition, orientation, onboarding, advising, and first-year success initiatives. The coordinator works closely with new students, including international students, while supporting engagement and retention efforts across the college. The position combines program coordination, student advising, and supervision responsibilities. It also includes collaboration with the Designated School Official to support international student services and transition programming. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Coordinate new student orientation and onboarding activities – Provide advising support for new students and international students – Collaborate with the Designated School Official regarding international student support – Develop orientation and student engagement programming – Support first-year student success initiatives – Supervise peer navigators – Assist with retention initiatives for students – Coordinate programming connected to student transition and engagement REQUIREMENTS – Experience coordinating orientation or onboarding programming – Experience supporting student advising initiatives – Ability to work with international students – Ability to coordinate student engagement and retention activities – Experience supervising peer navigators or student staff – Ability to collaborate across departments and student support services WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS The transition into college is a critical period for students, especially for new and international students navigating academic and campus expectations.
