OVERVIEW The Director, Study Abroad – Global Initiatives at the University of Texas at San Antonio provides strategic leadership and management for global education programming. This role supports study abroad and study away opportunities while guiding the development and implementation of international initiatives that expand student participation in global learning. The position focuses on program oversight, operational planning, and collaboration with faculty, students, parents, and international partners. The director also contributes to risk mitigation and crisis management efforts connected to international education experiences. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide strategic leadership for study abroad and global initiatives programs – Oversee the management and support of global education programs – Lead program development and operational planning activities – Implement procedures related to international and study abroad programs – Support risk mitigation and crisis management processes – Coordinate support for faculty-led programs and exchange programs – Collaborate with faculty, students, parents, and international partners – Expand high-impact international experiences for students REQUIREMENTS – Experience related to strategic leadership and management of global education programs – Ability to support study abroad and study away initiatives – Knowledge of program development and operational planning – Ability to implement procedures connected to international programs – Experience with risk mitigation and crisis management support – Capacity to work collaboratively with faculty, students, parents, and international partners – Ability to support faculty-led and exchange programs WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International education programs create meaningful opportunities for students to develop academic, cultural, and professional skills through study abroad experiences.
