OVERVIEW The Education Abroad Advisor at Miami University plays a central role in supporting and advancing education abroad experiences, including study abroad and away programs, global academic service learning, and international internships. This position focuses on advising students, faculty, and staff while ensuring that global opportunities align with university policies and the broader mission of Global Initiatives. The role combines student support, program coordination, and campus advocacy to strengthen global immersion opportunities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Advise students on education abroad opportunities, including study abroad and away programs, global academic service learning, and international internships – Advise faculty and staff on education abroad options and processes – Work with students and faculty to assure compliance with university policies related to education abroad – Identify appropriate education abroad opportunities for students – Prepare students for immersion experiences prior to departure – Develop and offer opportunities for returning students to reflect on and apply their global experiences – Advocate on campus for global immersion experiences – Support the mission of Global Initiatives REQUIREMENTS WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Education abroad experiences are a powerful component of a comprehensive university education, helping students build global awareness, intercultural competence, and practical skills.
