OVERVIEW The University of Florida International Center is hiring two Study Abroad Advisor I professionals to support students participating in international study programs. Based in Gainesville, Florida, these positions report to the Associate Director of Study Abroad and help manage a diverse portfolio of programs while guiding students through the full study abroad process. One advisor position focuses on programs in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Oceania, while the other advises students interested in programs in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The role combines student advising, enrollment coordination, and collaboration with international partners to support successful academic experiences abroad. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Advise students throughout the study abroad process – Manage a diverse portfolio of international programs – Advise students on programs in assigned geographic regions – Support students participating in study abroad programs abroad – Coordinate enrollment management activities – Conduct transcript evaluation activities – Lead or support pre-departure orientations for students – Coordinate with faculty and international institutions – Provide ongoing support for students abroad REQUIREMENTS – Ability to support students through the study abroad journey – Ability to manage international programs and advising responsibilities – Ability to coordinate with faculty and international institutions – Ability to assist with enrollment management and transcript evaluation – Ability to conduct pre-departure orientations and student advising WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Study abroad advisors play an important role in helping students access meaningful international learning opportunities. By guiding students through academic, logistical, and cultural preparation, the advisor helps strengthen student success and supports global engagement across university programs. This role also contributes to collaboration between international institutions, faculty, and students, helping maintain effective international study experiences abroad.
