OVERVIEW The Study Abroad Advisor at Georgia State University plays a central role in supporting students who pursue international learning opportunities as part of their academic journey. Based in Atlanta, this full-time position focuses on advising, outreach, and administrative coordination within the Study Abroad Programs unit. The role combines direct student engagement with behind-the-scenes program management to ensure accessible, well-organized study abroad experiences. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide advising, outreach, and administrative support for Georgia State University Study Abroad Programs. – Work closely with students throughout all phases of the study abroad process, including outreach, advising, orientation, and application management. – Serve as an expert on an assigned portfolio of faculty-led and affiliated study abroad programs. – Manage and process study abroad applications using the Terra Dotta application system. – Coordinate and support outreach events that promote study abroad opportunities across campus. – Liaise and collaborate with various academic and administrative units across the university. REQUIREMENTS WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Study abroad participation can be transformational for students, but it requires clear guidance and strong institutional support. This role helps ensure that students receive accurate information, timely advising, and organized administrative processes that make international education accessible and achievable. By coordinating programs and outreach across campus, the Study Abroad Advisor contributes directly to the university’s global engagement and student success goals.
