OVERVIEW The Assistant Director of International Admissions at Florida Institute of Technology supports the recruitment and retention of international students, with a focus on first-year and transfer applicants. This role involves managing international student inquiries and applications, evaluating undergraduate applications, and helping the university meet enrollment goals. The position also includes relationship management, campus engagement, presentations, and collaboration with recruitment agents and counselors. Domestic and international travel, professional development, and systems coordination are important components of the role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Support the recruitment and retention of international students, especially first-year and transfer applicants – Manage inquiries and applications from international students to support enrollment goals – Counsel international students and families regarding admission criteria and processes – Welcome and advise prospective international students and families during campus visit events – Conduct university information sessions for visiting international students and parents – Deliver formal presentations to students, parents, and teacher groups – Evaluate international undergraduate applications and make admission decisions – Communicate admission decisions and track enrollment outcomes – Coordinate and assess the productivity of international recruitment agents – Recommend programs to increase institutional awareness and qualified matriculates – Assist with on-campus recruiting events held outside normal business hours – Attend conferences for professional development – Travel domestically and internationally as needed – Develop and manage relationships with high school guidance counselors, independent counselors, and contracted recruitment agents – Supervise an assigned college work study or college roll student – Serve as Slate team liaison for the Office of Admission, including planning, training, and development of new systems – Exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters related to student enrollment REQUIREMENTS – Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in enrollment-related matters – Experience or ability to counsel international students and families on admissions processes – Ability to conduct presentations and information sessions for diverse audiences – Ability to evaluate international undergraduate applications and communicate admission decisions – Ability to coordinate and assess recruitment agent productivity – Willingness to assist with events outside standard business hours – Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed – Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with counselors and recruitment agents – Ability to supervise student staff – Ability to support planning, training, and development related to Slate systems WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International admissions professionals play an important role in helping universities build a globally diverse student community.
