POSITION PURPOSE The Education Counselor plays a crucial role in guiding international students towards the institution that perfectly aligns with their learning and career aspirations. They are responsible for achieving pipeline goals, ensuring customer satisfaction, and supporting students throughout their journey. The Education Counselor also actively promotes and supports IDP products and services, assisting students with issues other than placement. This is a full-time permanent role based in Melbourne. RESPONSIBILITIES Sales Achievement Provide information and advice to international students and their families regarding study opportunities in Australia and other relevant countries. Submit applications to institutions, obtain offers, and facilitate enrollments. Follow up on leads and inquiries to maximize the number of submitted and finalized applications. Support IDP network students with on-arrival issues and on-shore services. Identify cross-service opportunities and act upon them to increase uptake of services. Professional Competence Possess extensive product knowledge and proficiency in using C4C for managing student cases and generating performance reports. Ensure accurate data entry and management. Maintain excellent knowledge of student visa conditions, client programs, and processes. Customer Service Orientation Provide timely and professional face-to-face, phone, live chat, and email support to student inquiries. Follow through on student inquiries, requests, or complaints, offering information and assistance as needed. Offer customer service to IELTS test-takers and students visiting the student services office. Occasionally manage reception duties, responding to and redirecting queries when required. Assist and promote IDP IELTS test candidates by providing general information and handling test bookings. Assist students with on-arrival issues and provide on-shore IDP services. Interactions and Team Work Support event managers in organizing major promotional events, such as interview sessions and exhibitions. Assist in promoting and booking excursions and cultural events. Provide input on marketing activities to promote the IDP brand and services, collaborating with the Marketing Coordinator to coordinate advertisements on community newspapers and websites. Identify market opportunities and threats. Communicate and present information to students, colleagues, and staff, sharing market insights and updates. Building Collaborative Relationships Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and Team Leaders to develop relationships and projects with institution representatives. Foster strong working relationships with IDP network counselors, marketing, and admissions staff from institutions. Proactively seek partnership opportunities with industry stakeholders, such as student associations and referral partners. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Bachelor’s degree Minimum 6 months of experience as an Education Counsellor/Consultant in Australia Achievement-oriented with a strong customer service mindset Excellent communication skills Fluency in Chinese/Mandarin is a plus (Desirable) Collaborative and a team player Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills Understand the needs and issues of on-shore international students Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet skills GOOD TO HAVE Understanding of the immigration system/visa pathways QEAC certification WORKING AT IDP At IDP, we are truly international and embrace diversity.
