Work Hours: 36.25 hours per week Closing Date: 21/06/2023 Employment Type: Permanent The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) is currently in need of an experienced and highly skilled individual to fill the Deputy Director position in the School of Fine Art, Crafts, and Photography. This is a rare opportunity for a creative, skillful, enthusiastic, and experienced individual to join the top creative institution in the UK as we continue to build on our successes in research and expand our professional networks both nationally and globally. As the Deputy Director, you will be a motivating and inspiring manager who can lead and direct a team of practicing artists and academics, inspiring and engaging them and their students to excel. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Director in creating opportunities for the community to thrive and grow, and you will contribute to UCA’s vision of becoming a recognized global authority in the creative arts, creative technology, and creative industries. You will be responsible for supporting the Director in resource allocation, managing and mentoring the Program Directors within the School, and serving as Chair of Committees as needed. You will help drive the School’s management agenda, ensure industry-recognized standards are met, achieve key performance indicators, and deliver on student recruitment objectives. This role will play a vital role in ensuring excellence in graduate outcomes and providing an outstanding student experience for all students, including those participating in collaborative partnerships. The ideal candidate should possess: A background in research, professional experience, and a keen knowledge of current issues in higher education Excellent administrative skills and experience with virtual learning environments, digital systems, and processes A passion for enhancing and developing fine art education, as well as enthusiasm for tradition, innovation, interdisciplinary approaches, and collaborative practices A critical understanding of the social, cultural, economic, and environmental factors that impact artists, art, and art education, including decolonization practices, mental health and wellbeing, diversity, inclusion, and LGBTQIA+ An acute awareness of the professional environment for emerging creatives, connections in the art world across various sectors, and the ability to strategize and develop opportunities for our graduates The position will be primarily based at the Farnham campus, but the successful candidate will also supervise operations at the Canterbury campus. The position may require some international travel.
