About the Position As research, convening, and influencing is at the heart of our work, we are looking for creative minds to join us in providing innovative solutions to address global challenges. We are currently seeking a Communications and Events Manager, a key role in ODI’s Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) team. The incumbent will be responsible for creating effective communication strategies that deliver a compelling events program to engage our target audiences with ODI’s research and insight. This position is crucial in ensuring decision-making at international forums and events, such as the World Economic Forum Annual Meetings and COP summits, is based on the best analyses provided by ODI. The successful candidate will lead a team of expert communications professionals to ensure that strategic goals are translated into impactful and innovative campaigns. The key responsibilities for this role include: Working with progressive funders and strategic partners to raise visibility of priority issues ranging from gender diversity to addressing the climate crisis. Developing strategic communication plans and strategies for key projects aligned with ODI’s institutional goals. Leading ODI’s convening program, which includes events and podcasts, and coordinating the PAC team’s work accordingly with deadlines. Assisting and overseeing the delivery of high-quality events at important international summits. Line managing the Events Assistant Apprentice and task managing the embedded communication staff in ODI’s programs, while also playing an active role in the public affairs and communications management team. About the Candidate The ideal candidate would have a strong grasp of integrated communications planning and a proven track record in delivering successful public affairs and communications strategies, supported by tangible examples of success. Experience in delivering high-level events, ideally on a national and international level. Creativity and an eye for detail. A genuine passion for bringing together diverse perspectives, across varied formats. The ability to write for various audiences, from creating viral copy to corresponding with high-level dignitaries. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues of all seniorities and cultural backgrounds. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. The ability to work on strict deadlines and under pressure. The ability to work independently, as well as be a strong team player. Experience of working on global affairs and proficiency in other languages is advantageous but not essential.
