OVERVIEW The University of Florida is seeking a Study Abroad Advisor I to support students participating in study abroad programs and related international education initiatives. This role focuses on advising students through the study process, supporting academic planning, and coordinating with faculty, institutions, and external partners. The position includes responsibilities connected to enrollment management, program coordination, and outreach activities tied to academic programs abroad. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Advise students on faculty-led, exchange, and approved non-UF study abroad programs – Serve as a subject-matter expert for programs in the UK and Ireland or Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Oceania – Support students with academic fit, credit transfer, costs, financial aid, visa requirements, and the benefits of study abroad – Host pre-departure orientations for students preparing to study abroad – Support students facing academic, medical, behavioral, or personal challenges abroad – Administer study abroad application processes – Coordinate with external institutions and partners involved in programs abroad – Process transcripts and assign grade and credit conversions – Maintain understanding of university policies related to academic programs abroad – Coordinate study abroad programs with faculty directors – Liaise between UFIC, overseas institutions, study abroad providers, and educational institutions – Participate in study abroad fairs, information sessions, scholarship workshops, and professional development activities related to international education REQUIREMENTS – Ability to holistically advise students participating in study abroad programs – Knowledge related to academic fit, credit transfer, financial aid, visa requirements, and study abroad processes – Ability to coordinate with faculty, institutions, and external partners – Ability to manage administrative processes related to academic programs abroad – Ability to support students through academic and personal challenges abroad – Ability to participate in outreach and professional development activities connected to international education WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Study abroad advisors help students navigate complex academic and logistical processes connected to international education. Their work supports student success, strengthens partnerships between institutions, and helps expand access to meaningful academic programs abroad.
