OVERVIEW The Senior Immigration Scholar Advisor at the University of Florida supports international employees, scholars, and university departments through complex immigration processes and regulatory requirements. This role provides senior-level advice and counsel related to non-immigrant and immigrant options while supporting institutional compliance with U.S. immigration regulations. The position also works closely with administrative departments, laboratories, and the UF International Center to administer scholar services and immigration programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide senior-level advice and counsel to laboratories and administrative departments regarding the appointment and sponsorship of international employees and visitors – Advise international scholars and departments on immigration matters and available immigration pathways – Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) – Administer the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program – Deliver expert guidance related to filing applications and petitions for non-immigrant and immigrant options – Maintain SEVIS records and confidential immigration data – Coordinate with the UF International Center and immigration counsel – Conduct immigration-related trainings and orientations across campus – Ensure compliance with U.S. immigration regulations REQUIREMENTS – Experience providing immigration advice and counsel – Knowledge of non-immigrant and immigrant immigration processes – Ability to administer the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program – Experience maintaining SEVIS records – Ability to coordinate with immigration counsel and international offices – Ability to maintain confidential data – Knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations and compliance requirements – Experience supporting administrative departments and international scholars WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International institutions depend on knowledgeable professionals to help scholars, researchers, and employees navigate immigration requirements accurately and efficiently.
