OVERVIEW The Assistant Director, International Student Services at Marist University plays a central role in supporting the academic, personal, and regulatory needs of international students. Based in Poughkeepsie, New York, this position combines student advising, immigration compliance, and program development within a U.S. higher education context. The role is well suited to professionals who enjoy working at the intersection of student support, policy, and intercultural engagement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Provide counselling and advising support to international students – Advise international students on immigration matters related to F and J status – Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) – Manage SEVIS compliance and related reporting requirements – Advise students on Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT) – Plan and administer international student orientation programs – Develop and support programs that foster inclusion and internationalization on campus – Provide intercultural support for the international student population REQUIREMENTS WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International students contribute significantly to the academic, cultural, and global outlook of U.S. universities.
