OVERVIEW AnB Education is seeking welcoming host families in Crompton Hill, Indiana to support international J-1 exchange students attending local public high schools. This role offers families the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange by providing a stable home environment for students aged 15–18 during the academic year. Host families play a central role in helping students adjust to life, school, and community in the United States. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Host an international J-1 exchange student aged 15–18. – Provide a bedroom for the student. – Provide daily meals for the student. – Provide transportation if needed. – Offer a welcoming and supportive home environment. – Support the student while they attend a local public high school. REQUIREMENTS – Ability to host an international exchange student in Crompton Hill, Indiana. – Willingness to provide a bedroom, meals, and transportation if needed. – Commitment to creating a welcoming home environment. – Understanding that there is no monetary compensation for hosting. – Awareness that students’ personal expenses are covered by their own families. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Hosting an international exchange student contributes directly to cross-cultural understanding at the community level. By opening their homes, host families help students gain firsthand experience of American education and daily life while fostering mutual respect and global awareness. This role supports the broader mission of international exchange by building meaningful personal connections that extend beyond the classroom. BONUS: APPLICATION ADVICE – Reflect on your family’s daily routines and how an exchange student could be included in normal household activities. – Be prepared to discuss your living arrangements and how you would provide a private bedroom and meals. – Consider transportation needs in your area and how you would support a student attending a local public high school. – Approach the role with openness to cultural differences and a willingness to learn from the student. – Make use of the local coordinator as a resource for guidance and support throughout the academic year.
