OVERVIEW AnB Education is inviting families in Ravenna, Ohio, to serve as host families for international J-1 exchange students between the ages of 15 and 18. These students attend local public high schools and come from regions including Asia, Europe, and South America. The role focuses on cultural exchange, student support, and providing a stable home environment during the academic year. This opportunity is not a salaried position, but it plays a critical role in international education by enabling students to experience daily life in the United States while attending an American high school. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Welcome an international J-1 exchange student into the home – Provide a private or shared room suitable for a student – Provide regular meals for the student – Offer transportation to and from school when needed – Create a supportive and welcoming home environment – Support the student while they are enrolled in a local public high school REQUIREMENTS – Ability to host a J-1 exchange student between the ages of 15 and 18 – Residence in or near Ravenna, Ohio – Willingness to provide housing and meals for the student – Ability to assist with transportation to and from school when required – Understanding that there is no monetary compensation for hosting – Willingness to work with AnB Education and a local coordinator throughout the year WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Host families are essential to the success of international exchange programs because they provide students with daily cultural immersion and personal support. By opening their homes, host families help students build cross-cultural understanding, improve language skills, and feel safe and supported while studying abroad.
