OVERVIEW The Local Coordinator – International Student Program role with ABC Education Group is a flexible, remote position supporting international high school students during their study experience in the United States. Local Coordinators play a central role in connecting students, host families, schools, and the wider community to ensure a safe and supportive placement. This position is based from home but requires residence near program locations in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, or Saddle River, New Jersey. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Recruit and support host families for international high school students – Supervise international students throughout their program stay – Serve as a liaison between students, host families, and local schools – Provide ongoing monitoring and advocacy to support student well-being and success – Conduct community outreach related to the International Student Program – Recruit and work with local volunteers involved in student support – Complete and submit required monthly reports REQUIREMENTS – Must reside in the United States – Must live near one of the program locations (Winston-Salem, North Carolina or Saddle River, New Jersey) – Ability to work remotely from home WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Local Coordinators are essential to the success of international student programs because they provide the on-the-ground support that ensures students are safe, supported, and able to thrive in a new cultural and educational environment. By building relationships with host families, schools, and community members, Coordinators help create meaningful cultural exchange experiences. Their monitoring and advocacy work also helps maintain program quality and student well-being throughout the academic year. BONUS: APPLICATION ADVICE – Emphasize any experience you have working with international students, host families, or cross-cultural programs, even if it was in a volunteer capacity. – Highlight your connection to the local community and your ability to conduct outreach and build relationships with families and schools. – Be prepared to explain how you manage responsibilities independently in a remote, work-from-home environment. – Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, especially related to reporting and ongoing student monitoring. – If applicable, share examples of times you have served in an advocacy or support role for students or young people in educational settings.
