OVERVIEW The International Student Advisor role at the University of South Carolina focuses on supporting international students through immigration-related advising and inclusive campus programming. Based within the PROV Global Carolina department, this position contributes to both student compliance and broader international engagement across the university community. The role combines regulatory advising with student-facing programming to enhance the overall international student experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Advise international students on topics related to immigration compliance – Provide international programming that benefits the international student community – Support programming that also engages and benefits the wider student population REQUIREMENTS – Experience with the SEVIS federal database – Strong communication skills – Experience working with diverse international student populations – Familiarity with Banner systems – Familiarity with Ellucian software – Familiarity with SEVIS databases WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International Student Advisors play a critical role in helping institutions meet federal compliance obligations while ensuring international students feel informed and supported. By combining immigration advising with community-building programming, this role helps foster a welcoming campus environment and promotes student success across cultures.
