OVERVIEW Texas Southern University is seeking a Director of International Affairs and International Programs to lead and manage the university’s global engagement initiatives. This leadership role supports international partnerships, study abroad opportunities, international student and scholar services, and institutional international programs. The position also oversees compliance responsibilities connected to SEVIS and supports international admissions, enrollment, and retention efforts. The Director serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and supervises Designated School Officials and Responsible Officers. The role requires coordination across multiple international initiatives while supporting cross-cultural learning opportunities for students and scholars. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead, develop, and manage global engagement initiatives – Oversee international partnerships and collaborative international programs – Manage study abroad programs and related international initiatives – Direct international student and scholar services – Ensure SEVIS compliance and maintain responsible oversight of related processes – Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Supervise Designated School Officials (DSOs) and Responsible Officers – Support international admissions activities – Promote international student enrollment and retention – Encourage cross-cultural learning opportunities across the university community – Support global education initiatives REQUIREMENTS – Experience leading and managing international affairs and international programs – Knowledge of SEVIS compliance responsibilities – Ability to serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) – Ability to supervise DSOs and Responsible Officers – Experience supporting international admissions and international student services – Ability to oversee study abroad and global engagement initiatives – Strong leadership and program management capabilities WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International education leadership positions help institutions strengthen global engagement and expand access to meaningful international experiences.
