OVERVIEW The Associate Director, Education Abroad at Drexel University provides leadership for the Education Abroad Advising team and supports the strategic development, administration, and continuous improvement of education abroad programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Education Abroad, this position combines team supervision, student advising, operational oversight, and partnership management. The role also works closely with campus and international partners to strengthen the student experience and support successful global learning opportunities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Lead and support the Education Abroad Advising team – Supervise education abroad advisors and advising operations – Support the strategic development and continuous improvement of education abroad programs – Develop and improve policies, procedures, and operational processes – Manage a portfolio of education abroad programs and partner relationships – Collaborate with campus and international partners to enhance the student experience – Advise students before, during, and after international experiences – Support course approvals and transfer credit processes – Assist students with financial aid and pre-departure requirements – Help develop new international partnerships – Support compliance with academic regulations and institutional policies – Represent Drexel Global on university committees – Assist with faculty-led Intensive Courses Abroad – Participate in health, safety, and emergency response efforts related to international programs – Contribute to advising and operational improvements across education abroad services REQUIREMENTS – Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience – 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible higher education experience – Preferred experience in education abroad or international education – Ability to supervise staff and oversee advising operations – Experience collaborating with campus and international partners – Knowledge of education abroad processes, including transfer credit, financial aid, and pre-departure preparation – Ability to support compliance with academic regulations and institutional procedures – Willingness to participate in health, safety, and emergency response efforts – Availability for occasional evening and weekend work – Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Education abroad professionals play an important role in helping students access meaningful international learning opportunities while navigating academic, financial, and logistical requirements. This position contributes to the quality, safety, and effectiveness of global education programming through leadership, advising support, and collaboration across the institution. The role also supports the development of partnerships and operational systems that help institutions expand access to international experiences and improve student outcomes.
