ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR SECONDARY EDUCATION/ASSOCIATE DEAN SECONDARY EDUCATION SCHOOL OF EDUCATION JOONDALUP & MOUNT LAWLEY CAMPUSES ONGOING – ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/CONCURRENT – 3 YEAR AS ASSOCIATE DEAN LEVEL D $154,492 TO $169,855 PA PLUS ASSOCIATE DEAN ALLOWANCE (CIRCA $20,000 P.A) Ongoing academic leadership role & joint member of School Leadership Team Lead and mentor a forward-thinking and highly capable team of Secondary Education academics Influence and shape the future of secondary teacher education at a state and national level This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Secondary Education academic leader to join one of Australia’s highest-ranking public Universities for student satisfaction within the School of Education. Applicants should have significant experience within the secondary education and university sectors, enabling them to effectively lead the secondary discipline and contribute to the strategic direction of the School. This will be achieved through a passion for leading innovation in research, teaching and learning, and identifying opportunities to engage in critical local, national, international research, and policy change. The Opportunity The successful candidate will be appointed to a continuing position as Associate Professor and will also serve an initial concurrent term of three years as Associate Dean (Secondary). This senior leadership role will involve a commitment of between 2-3 days on average a week leading the Secondary team. The remainder of time will be devoted to research and scholarship. An appropriate relocation support package will also be negotiated for the right candidate if relocating from interstate or overseas. As an integral member of the School Senior Leadership Team, the Associate Dean Partners with and supports the Executive Dean by providing strategic and operational leadership for staff within the Secondary Education Discipline, and for student progress Leads, develops, and mentors staff through effective communication and collaboration Develops and strengthens collaborative relationships and community partnerships with relevant stakeholders, increasing the profile of the discipline area Contributes to the strategic direction and governance of the School in alignment with the University strategy As an Associate Professor within a recognized specialized discipline, the successful candidate will Produce recognized research outputs and obtaining research grants Develop and contribute to course curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level Develop and contribute to postgraduate curriculum specifically international markets in innovative areas of secondary education Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum and pedagogy Influence strategic and proactive engagement and policy development with industry, the profession, and the community. Experience and Proven Track Record A PhD in a relevant discipline Experience at a senior academic level, including collaboratively leading, mentoring, and developing staff. Leading innovative/strategic initiatives as a result of your knowledge of trends within secondary education, including policy and curriculum at a state, national, and possibly international level An established or emerging track record in quality research and outputs in Field of Research code 39, together with professional industry leadership experience and academic teaching profile. Existing professional links at a senior level and a reputation as an influential/credible secondary educator specialist with key industry partners. An extensive proven national and/or international record in research. Obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check, a National Police Check and eligible for Teacher Registration in Western Australia. The Secondary Team Overview Secondary Education programs at ECU have a strong reputation at a state and national level, and across the many disciplines taught, which include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, Design and Technology, Home Economics, Drama and Visual Arts. Courses are taught across our Joondalup and Mt Lawley campuses and within specialist teaching facilities for some disciplines such as Drama and Visual Arts and Design and Technology.
