Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and empathetic Education Assistant to join our Year 4 Primary team at John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS). This is a fixed term, full-time position for Semester 2, 2024 with the potential for extension. As an Education Assistant, your role will be to provide general classroom and small group support, ensuring the academic and social success of every student. Collaboration with our Primary staff is vital, as we value a team player who is dedicated to the holistic development of our students.
International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme: JWACS is one of the few independent schools in Western Australia authorized to teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). This program encourages students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals, and engaged world citizens. As an Education Assistant at JWACS, you will have a crucial role in inspiring and assisting our young learners with the PYP, preparing them for the future.
Selection Criteria:
– Understanding and support of the Mission, Vision, Ethos, and Core Values of The Anglican Schools Commission and John Wollaston Anglican Community School.
– Active support of a child safe culture.
– Familiarity with various special needs conditions, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges, as well as strategies and interventions to support students’ development.
– Collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, including teachers, therapists, support staff, and parents/guardians, to meet the diverse needs of students with special needs.
– Strong organizational and time management skills.
Essential Requirements:
– Certificate IV in School Based Education Support or equivalent.
– Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC).
– Current Working with Children Card.
