About MIT: Melbourne Institute of Technology (MIT) is a renowned private institution of higher education with campuses located in Melbourne and Sydney. Our programs are designed for Australian as well as international students. MIT also operates an English Language Centre, accredited by NEAS, which provides English language courses to help students enhance their English skills and prepare for further studies in Australia.

The Role: We are currently seeking a motivated individual for the position of Learning Skills & Quality Assurance Coordinator at our Sydney campus. This role requires the coordinator to develop and deliver customized learning and language programs to our diverse student body. Responsibilities include implementing a peer-mentoring program, providing quality assurance for academic documents, conducting professional workshops, and delivering specialist support. The Learning Skills Coordinator will report directly to the Campus Director and work closely with the academic teams to enhance student learning experiences. This position requires a full-time on-campus presence to effectively engage with students and staff. Therefore, hybrid or work-from-home arrangements are not possible.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic Support: Develop, implement, and evaluate academic language and learning support programs.
2. Collaboration: Work in collaboration with the Campus Director, Melbourne Centre of Learning, and academic teams on administrative tasks and quality assurance activities.
3. Program Delivery: Deliver tailored academic study skills programs within and outside of the curriculum.
4. Language Enhancement: Develop and implement language enhancement strategies to facilitate students’ transition to the Australian learning environment.
5. Peer-Mentoring: Administer and evaluate the effectiveness of the Peer-Mentoring Program.
6. Best Practices: Advocate for and implement evidence-based best practices in learning and teaching within the Centre of Learning.
7. Quality Assurance: Assist in proofreading academic documents, conduct professional writing workshops, and ensure compliance with academic quality standards.
8. Specialized Support: Provide specialized support in areas such as mathematics and computing as required.
9. Student Consultations: Conduct student consultations (online, phone, and face-to-face) to meet service standards.
10. Resource Development: Develop relevant language and learning resources in various formats, including online learning objects and web-based content.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
1. Master’s degree in TESOL or a related field.
2. Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
3. Demonstrated experience in study skills related programs.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Strong administrative, organizational, and presentation skills.
6. Knowledge of student academic intervention strategies.
7. Experience in developing and implementing strategies for language enhancement and study skills.
8. Ability to support students in transitioning to the Australian learning environment.
9. Experience in administering peer-mentoring programs.
10. Proven ability to collaborate with academic staff in curriculum development.
11. Knowledge and experience in quality assurance processes for academic documents.
