Job Title: Executive Director – International Programs, Research, and Evaluation

Location: Melbourne CBD (Hybrid work)

About Mental Health First Aid International:
Mental Health First Aid International, also known as MHFA Australia, is a nonprofit global health promotion charity. Our mission is to offer evidence-based educational programs that enhance mental health literacy, reduce stigmas, and equip individuals with the skills to encourage seeking professional help. We collaborate with organizations worldwide to foster mental health literacy and early intervention in order to mitigate the impact of psychological distress and mental health issues in various settings.

About the Role:
As the Executive Director, you will lead our teams focused on International Programs, Research, and Evaluation, as well as Curriculum and Quality. This pivotal role requires dynamic and hands-on leadership during a period of growth at both domestic and international levels. The ideal candidate will be an experienced clinician with a proven track record in leading large, multidisciplinary teams in the healthcare sector. A deep understanding of the Australian mental health and suicide prevention sectors is crucial. This role requires strategic thinking to drive international growth, engagement, and communication, along with implementing a quality management framework. Expanding our in-house mental health expertise will also be a key responsibility.

About You:
In addition to being skilled at building strong relationships and fostering a thriving team culture in a fast-paced environment, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
– Expertise in mental health research, with a PhD or equivalent qualifications in mental health and/or suicide prevention
– Commitment to incorporating lived experience into service design and delivery
– Significant experience working with Boards and Directors, including relevant qualifications
– Experience in delivering training, education, and continuous professional development services
– Deep understanding of quality management and experience in implementing quality frameworks
