At the California School of Education (CSOE), Alliant International University offers a range of education degrees, certificates, and credentials that prepare students for careers in teaching, counseling, leadership, advocacy, administration, management, and community work. CSOE is currently seeking to fill two positions for Assistant Professors at either their San Diego campus or through remote work. The Assistant Professors will be responsible for facilitating learning and engaging in scholarship, service, or a combination of these activities in the Teacher Education program. They will also be involved in leading webinars, workshops, and orientations, as well as providing educational planning services to current candidates and alumni. The anticipated start date for these positions is January 2024, with a salary of $72,000.
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Professors include facilitating learning in both classroom and distance learning settings, preparing course syllabi and curriculum, assessing and evaluating learners, mentoring and advising students, supervising field placements, and providing research and scholarship mentoring. In addition, the Assistant Professors are expected to engage in scholarship and research activities that contribute to their field, as well as serve the university, community, and profession. This includes participating in faculty governance, curriculum development, and quality improvement processes, as well as contributing professional expertise at local, state, and national levels.
All faculty members at Alliant International University have certain additional duties that are not given formal workload credit but are included in yearly evaluations. These duties include active participation in campus life, program governance, program and campus activities, prompt response to communications, accessibility to students and colleagues, attending meetings, advising students, and participating in hiring and curriculum development. Other responsibilities include submitting grades and complying with established procedures and deadlines, as well as performing other related tasks as assigned.
The ideal candidates for these positions should possess proficient computer skills, the ability to work independently and be self-motivated, strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, the ability to explain complex concepts clearly, flexibility in workflow, and the drive to guide students towards completing tasks. They should also have effective communication and interpersonal skills, cultural competence, motivation, and a results-oriented mindset. Additionally, candidates must have a doctoral or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited college or university, adequate experience in relevant areas, and if applicable, a record of meritorious performance as an Instructor. A valid California Teaching Credential is preferred.
