The Assistant Director supports various operational aspects and offers guidance to global and international students and scholars regarding cultural, immigration, and personal matters. Additionally, they organize programs and workshops aligned with departmental objectives to enhance retention rates. They also contribute to the planning and implementation of orientation programs for international students, establish connections with external resources, and collaborate with other university departments to prepare students as global citizens. The Assistant Director also plays a role in immigration, international enrollment, globalization, and study abroad efforts. It is essential for them to foster and uphold the University’s mission.
The estimated start date for this position is in November 2023, but it is subject to change if necessary.
As a Designated School Official (DSO), the Assistant Director assumes responsibility for SEVIS-related processes. They may also be required to serve as an Alternate Responsible Official (ARO) or PDSO/RO.
The Assistant Director evaluates data related to international enrollment objectives and assists in determining effective recruitment strategies, including market analysis, communication channels, marketing initiatives, and partnerships with international entities. They also follow best practices in international admissions, such as credential evaluation, I20 issuance, maintaining relationships with agents, and serving as a resource for internal and external stakeholders.
In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Assistant Director helps plan and implement recruitment strategies in specific global regions to promote the growth and diversity of both undergraduate and graduate student populations.
They contribute to recruitment activities and events, including orientations and presentations, as assigned. Additionally, they oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of assigned programs.
The Assistant Director, together with the Executive Director, supports the establishment of international alumni relations in the primary focus regions.
They collaborate with relevant campus offices, such as the Registrar’s Office, Accounting, Residence Life, Student Life, Career Services, and other departments that cater to international students.
Supervising student staff and assisting the Executive Director with staff training and supervision are also responsibilities of the Assistant Director.
They demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Any other duties within the assigned area of responsibility may be assigned to the Assistant Director
