Job Summary:
The Academic Advisor I position in International Studies at the Student Success Hub offers support and guidance to students in the College of Humanities. This position involves advising students on academic planning and progress, interpreting university policies, and promoting a respectful and inclusive environment for student success. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, and will be committed to student success.

Responsibilities:
1. Meet with undergraduate students to provide information and guidance on academic-related issues.
2. Evaluate students’ needs and develop appropriate educational plans.
3. Make referrals for students who require additional support.
4. Disseminate information about changes in major requirements or university policies.
5. Participate in campus-based professional development communities.
6. Use data analytics and student record technology platforms to monitor student progress.
7. Proficiently use degree tracking software and advising-related technologies.
8. Maintain students’ academic files and engage with record-keeping systems.
9. Participate in advising activities during New Student Orientation.
10. Attend meetings and trainings related to advising.
11. Support the Student Success Hub in outreach events and activities.
12. Perform other advising-related activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) required.
– Strong human relations and communication skills.
– Potential ability to perform essential job functions.

Preferences:
– Preference given to individuals with education, experience, or interest in International Studies.

Special Instructions:
– Priority review begins on 6/3/2024.
– Full-time position with a flexible work schedule.
– Some travel, weekend, or evening activities may be required.
– Some remote work possible.
